H.R. No. 1443

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, Round Rock El Amistad Club has made a positive

impact in the local community for nearly six decades; and

WHEREAS, Established in 1968 by Jesse R. Molina and a number

of other Hispanic leaders, Round Rock El Amistad Club is dedicated

to empowering and supporting students through educational

scholarships and charitable initiatives; since its founding, the

nonprofit has awarded more than $3 million in scholarships to area

youth; and

WHEREAS, In an effort to build community, Round Rock El

Amistad Club also sponsors various outreach programs and

fundraising events, such as Creekside Bingo, Fiesta Amistad, and an

annual golf tournament; the organization is ably led by president

David Villarreal, vice president Janda Castillo, treasurer Angel

Romero, secretary Tina Steiner, and at-large member Oscar Perez;

and

WHEREAS, Since its inception, Round Rock El Amistad Club has

helped to build an even brighter future for countless area

students, and the organization is indeed deserving of recognition

for its contributions; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas

Legislature hereby honor Round Rock El Amistad Club and extend to

all those associated with the organization sincere best wishes for

continued success with their important work; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

prepared for the club as an expression of high regard by the Texas

House of Representatives.
