H.R. No. 1448

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, Sydney Shifflett has distinguished herself in her

responsibilities as a legislative intern in the office of State

Representative Joanne Shofner during the 89th Legislative Session;

and

WHEREAS, Since joining the staff through The University of

Texas System Legislative Fellowship Program, Ms. Shifflett has

provided vital assistance in handling a wide variety of challenging

tasks; in addition to gaining valuable experience in the field of

public service, she has learned more about the legislative process

and the issues facing citizens of the Lone Star State; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Shifflett is a junior at Stephen F. Austin State

University, where she is pursuing a degree in criminal justice;

actively involved with her campus community, she is an officer of

the Pre-Law Society, a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority, and a

mentor for incoming students majoring in government; moreover, she

has given generously of her time as a volunteer for the Family

Crisis Center of East Texas, and she plans to work for the

Nacogdoches County Adult Probation department in fall 2025; and

WHEREAS, Sydney Shifflett has performed her duties as a

legislative intern with skill and dedication, and she is indeed

deserving of special recognition for her fine work; now, therefore,

be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas

Legislature hereby commend Sydney Shifflett for her service as a

legislative intern in the office of State Representative Joanne

Shofner and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success

in all her endeavors; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

prepared for Ms. Shifflett as an expression of high regard by the

Texas House of Representatives.
