H.R. No. 1460
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Energy Council is celebrating its 50th
anniversary in 2025, providing a fitting opportunity to recognize
the organization for its many achievements; and
WHEREAS, Established as the Southwest Regional Energy
Council in 1975, the organization serves as a forum for state
legislators to collaborate on energy and environmental policy; the
organization's original five oil-producing member states are
Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, and New Mexico, and over the
years, it has expanded to include West Virginia, Mississippi,
Alabama, Kansas, Montana, North Dakota, Utah, Wyoming, and Alaska,
as well as the Canadian provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan; and
WHEREAS, The Energy Council has played an instrumental role
in shaping state and federal policies related to oil and gas and to
other energy sources such as coal, wind, solar, batteries,
hydrogen, nuclear, and geothermal, as well as to emerging
technologies such as carbon capture and artificial intelligence,
all of which provide the basis for strong, reliable grids and a
thriving energy sector; today, the organization benefits from the
able leadership of its chair, Texas State Representative Drew
Darby; and
WHEREAS, For five decades, The Energy Council has supported
sustainable energy practices and economic growth in
energy-producing states, and it is a pleasure to join in honoring
the organization on this special occasion; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
Legislature hereby commemorate the 50th anniversary of The Energy
Council and extend to all those affiliated with the organization
sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for The Energy Council as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
