H.R. No. 1479

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, Isaac Cancio of Corpus Christi distinguished

himself through his exceptional performance at the Scripps National

Spelling Bee held in Washington, D.C., on May 27-29, 2025; and

WHEREAS, An eighth-grade student at Marvin Baker Middle

School, Isaac completed nine rounds in the tournament; he finished

as a semifinalist among 243 spellers and won a commemorative medal

and a $500 gift card; and

WHEREAS, This gifted young man has been a dominant presence

at local and regional spelling bees for years; after clinching the

title at the South Texas Regional Spelling Bee in March, he earned

the opportunity to compete on the national stage for the first time;

and

WHEREAS, With his impressive showing in the Scripps National

Spelling Bee, Isaac Cancio has brought great credit to his school

and to his community, and the dedication and skill he has

demonstrated are sure to serve him well in the years ahead; now,

therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas

Legislature hereby congratulate Isaac Cancio on his participation

in the 2025 Scripps National Spelling Bee and extend to him sincere

best wishes for continued success; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

prepared for Isaac as an expression of high regard by the Texas

House of Representatives.
