H.R. No. 1481
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Americans have been deeply shocked and saddened by
the tragic deaths of Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Lynn Milgrim,
employees of the Israeli embassy who were gunned down outside the
Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C., on May 21, 2025; and
WHEREAS, A devoted young couple, Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah
Milgrim were on the verge being engaged; Mr. Lischinsky had
purchased a ring with the intention of proposing to Ms. Milgrim on a
trip they were planning to take to Jerusalem to meet his family; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Milgrim hailed from Overland Park, Kansas;
while completing her bachelor's degree at the University of Kansas,
she was active in its Jewish community and served on the board of
the Hillel student organization; she earned a master's degree in
international affairs from American University and a second degree
in natural resources and sustainable development jointly offered by
American University and the University for Peace in Costa Rica;
during her studies, she interned in Israel for a year with
Tech2Peace, an organization that promotes dialogue and peace
initiatives among Israelis and Palestinians in the tech industry;
in her work for the Israeli embassy, she organized visits to Israel
for a variety of groups, and she was admired by colleagues for her
eagerness to listen to and learn from others; and
WHEREAS, An aspiring diplomat, Mr. Lischinsky grew up in
Germany before his family emigrated to Israel, and he held both
German and Israeli citizenship; he was known for his curiosity and
kindness, as well as his love of books and photography; after
attending The Mae Boyar High School in Jerusalem, he received his
degree in international relations and Asian studies from the Hebrew
University of Jerusalem; he was a founding member of an
organization affiliated with the German-Israeli Society that was
dedicated to connecting young people from those nations; his
employment in the political section of the Israeli embassy spanned
a little more than two years; and
WHEREAS, Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim shared a profound
commitment to peace in the Middle East, as well as a great love for
one another, and their loss is a source of tremendous sorrow to
their family, their friends, and people of good will around the
world; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Yaron Lischinsky
and Sarah Lynn Milgrim and extend sincere condolences to all who
mourn their passing.
