H.R. No. 1483

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, Nia Nickens has distinguished herself in her

responsibilities as a PowerHouse Texas energy policy fellow in the

office of State Representative Rafael Anchía during the 89th

Legislative Session; and

WHEREAS, Since joining the staff, Ms. Nickens has provided

vital assistance in handling a wide variety of challenging tasks,

including collaborating with stakeholders, drafting bill layouts

and policy memos, supporting constituent outreach, and attending

legislative meetings and briefings; her work has focused on such

critical issues as energy, the environment and climate,

transportation, and water; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Nickens holds a bachelor's degree in

environmental studies with a minor in ecology and conservation

biology as well as a master's degree in energy from Texas A&M

University; passionate about reducing energy burdens in low-income

communities while advancing social equity, she currently serves as

a climate corps fellow for the Environmental Defense Fund, and her

previous experience includes working as a rising solar fellow for

Women of Renewable Industries and Sustainable Energy, as a student

intern at the Center for Rural Enterprise and Environmental

Justice, and as an onboarding associate at Relentless; and

WHEREAS, Nia Nickens has performed her duties as a PowerHouse

Texas energy policy fellow with skill and dedication, and she is

indeed deserving of special recognition for her fine work; now,

therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas

Legislature hereby commend Nia Nickens for her service as a

PowerHouse Texas energy policy fellow in the office of State

Representative Rafael Anchía and extend to her sincere best wishes

for continued success in all her endeavors; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

prepared for Ms. Nickens as an expression of high regard by the

Texas House of Representatives.
