R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, Penfold Theatre Company is celebrating a successful

inaugural season in its new performing arts venue in Round Rock,

providing a welcome opportunity to honor this respected arts group;

and

WHEREAS, Over the past 17 years, Penfold Theatre Company has

presented plays and musicals in a variety of locations in the

Central Texas area; its productions have garnered praise from the

Austin Critics Table,
The Austin Chronicle
, and the
Austin

American-Statesman
and have earned several B. Iden Payne Awards;

and

WHEREAS, In 2024, Penfold opened the first professional

theatre venue in Round Rock when it established its new home in the

Rock Creek Plaza; the inaugural 2024-2025 season has featured three

productions,
I'm Proud of You
,
It's a Wonderful Life
, and
Ordinary

Days
, and the comedy
Anton Chekhov is a Tasty Snack
will receive its

world premiere on June 6; moreover, the company allows arts and

education partners in the community to use the facility, expanding

the schedule of performances and classes held at the venue; and

WHEREAS, Penfold Theatre Company has carried out a range of

special projects through the years, including staging an outdoor

theater series in collaboration with the Round Rock Parks and

Recreation Department and providing learning opportunities for

area students and teachers in conjunction with the Round Rock

Independent School District Council of the Arts; the company has

also created an annual holiday radiocast that has become a beloved

annual tradition for area residents; and

WHEREAS, The talented and creative members of Penfold Theatre

Company have greatly enhanced the vibrant cultural life of Central

Texas, and they are indeed deserving of recognition for their

contributions; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas

Legislature hereby congratulate Penfold Theatre Company on its

inaugural season in its new performing arts venue and extend to its

members sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

prepared for the group as an expression of high regard by the Texas

House of Representatives.
