H.R. No. 1538

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, Donna Gordon Kaspar has demonstrated a longstanding

commitment to her fellow citizens over the course of her notable

legal career; and

WHEREAS, The daughter of Donald and Judy Gordon, the former

Donna Gordon was raised in Crockett, where she graduated as the

salutatorian of Crockett High School in 1985; she went on to earn a

degree in business management from Texas A&M University in 1989 and

a law degree from Baylor Law School in 1992; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Kaspar began her career as an assistant district

attorney in the Nacogdoches County District Attorney's Office; in

1995, she returned to Crockett with the intention of one day running

for Houston County district attorney, a position previously held by

her father, but she was soon appointed to the post of county

attorney; she successfully ran for district attorney in 2008, and

during her 16 years in office, she tried all types of felony cases;

though she retired at the end of 2024, she recently took on a

challenging new role with her appointment as the Crockett city

attorney in March 2025; and

WHEREAS, A widely respected figure in the community,

Ms. Kaspar received the Teardrop Award from Kalin's Center for her

work to benefit children who have suffered from abuse; and

WHEREAS, Through her dedication, integrity, and expertise,

Donna Gordon Kaspar has distinguished herself as an attorney and

public servant, and she is indeed deserving of recognition for her

exemplary work; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas

Legislature hereby honor Donna Gordon Kaspar for her professional

accomplishments and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued

success; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

prepared for Ms. Kaspar as an expression of high regard by the Texas

House of Representatives.
