H.R. No. 37

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, The Emgage Texas Emerging Leaders program is

furthering civic engagement through its efforts to connect with

Muslim American residents of the Lone Star State; and

WHEREAS, Emgage is dedicated to educating, empowering, and

mobilizing Muslim American voters in support of policies that

strengthen democracy and enable Muslim communities to thrive; the

group offers a variety of programs, projects, retreats, and

services, including the Million Muslim Votes campaign and

initiatives to strengthen bonds with the Black Muslim community;

and

WHEREAS, One of the organization's signature programs,

Emerging Leaders helps Muslim youth interested in civic affairs,

government, policy, and advocacy to develop the skills necessary to

become tomorrow's leaders; at the end of the six-month program,

participants are provided with opportunities to undertake

governmental and civic internships; and

WHEREAS, By fostering a more informed and involved citizenry,

Emgage is making vital contributions to our state's prosperity and

vitality, and the participants in the Emgage Texas Emerging Leaders

program are indeed deserving of recognition; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas

Legislature hereby commend the Emgage Texas Emerging Leaders

program and extend to its participants sincere best wishes for

continued success; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

prepared for the group as an expression of high regard by the Texas

House of Representatives.
