H.R. No. 428

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, David Thomas Roberts, an esteemed Texan and friend

to many, passed away on June 30, 2024, at the age of 65; and

WHEREAS, The son of Doris and Bob Roberts, Dave Roberts was

born in East St. Louis, Illinois, on January 14, 1959; he graduated

from Aldine High School in Houston in 1977, and he continued his

education at The University of Texas at Austin; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Roberts' entrepreneurial skills and tremendous

work ethic brought him great success, and over the years, he

established a number of businesses, including Teligistics,

Defiance Press & Publishing, ProcureLogix, and Comanche Rose Ranch,

where he realized his longtime dream of raising Longhorn cattle; in

addition, he held numerous patents for innovative processes in a

variety of industries, and he authored six books,

WHEREAS, Mr. Roberts wed the love of his life, Rose Marquez,

on February 23, 1984, and they enjoyed a rewarding marriage that

spanned four decades; he took great pride in his children, Tiffany,

Tanya, Travis, and Tanner, and with the passing years, he had the

privilege of becoming "Papaw" to nine grandchildren, Vivi, Braeden,

Aliza, Isabel, Thomason, Lily, Travis, Amelia, and the late Adelyn

Shelander; a Texas history buff, sports enthusiast, and true animal

lover, he cherished time spent with his family and friends and found

great fulfillment in serving as a coach and mentor; and

WHEREAS, While the death of Dave Roberts brings immeasurable

sorrow to his loved ones, he leaves behind a legacy that will long

be treasured by all those who held him dear; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas

Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of David Thomas Roberts

and extend sincere condolences to all who mourn his passing; and, be

it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of

Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Dave

Roberts.
