H.R. No. 506

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, The grand opening of the John Ashman Fire Training

Complex in Lewisville is taking place on February 10, 2025; and

WHEREAS, Located at the site of the old Lewisville Fire

Training Center, the $6.9 million facility was built through a

collaborative effort between the cities of Lewisville, Flower

Mound, and Highland Village; firefighters from each community will

use the facility to prepare for a variety of emergencies, including

fire, disaster management, technical rescue, and complex medical

scenarios; and

WHEREAS, The training complex is named in honor of the late

John Ashman, who served with the Lewisville Fire Department for

four decades, including seven years as the training chief, before

his passing in May 2023; the facility features a live fire training

environment with a two-story residential structure and a

three-story commercial building as well as access to a drill tower

and classrooms; and

WHEREAS, The skilled first responders of the Lewisville,

Flower Mound, and Highland Village Fire Departments have

demonstrated an exceptional commitment to protecting the lives and

property of their fellow citizens, and this new facility will help

support their important work; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas

Legislature hereby commemorate the grand opening of the John Ashman

Fire Training Complex and commend all those who were involved in

bringing this project to fruition; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared

for the Lewisville, Flower Mound, and Highland Village Fire

Departments as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of

Representatives.
