H.R. No. 507
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Sergeant Barron Smith is retiring from the Flower
Mound Police Department on February 3, 2025, drawing to a close an
exemplary tenure in law enforcement that has spanned more than 27
years; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Smith began his career as a jailer in New
Mexico, and he subsequently became an officer with the Lovington
Police Department; he joined the Flower Mound Police Department in
September 2000; and
WHEREAS, Early in his tenure with the Flower Mound force,
Mr. Smith distinguished himself as a beat officer; promoted to
corporal and then to the rank of sergeant in 2006, he oversaw the
traffic division and was honored as Supervisor of the Year in 2006
and 2008; in August 2020, he transferred from the patrol division to
the criminal investigations division; he was assigned to the school
resource officer unit, where he has overseen a team of nine resource
officers in the Lewisville Independent School District; along the
way, he has served as a member of the marine safety equipment
operators team and earned certification as a master peace officer;
and
WHEREAS, Barron Smith has greatly benefited the citizens of
Flower Mound through his skill, professionalism, and commitment to
public safety, and he may indeed reflect with pride on his many
contributions as he embarks on the next exciting chapter of his
life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Sergeant Barron Smith on his
retirement from the Flower Mound Police Department and extend to
him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Sergeant Smith as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
