H.R. No. 6

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, March 26, 2025, marks the first anniversary of the

collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, Maryland,

providing a fitting occasion to posthumously honor the six men who

died in that tragic event; and

WHEREAS, In the early morning hours of March 26, 2024, a

construction crew was working an overnight shift to fill potholes

in the center span of the Francis Scott Key Bridge when a

malfunctioning cargo ship struck a support column and caused the

bridge to collapse; eight construction workers fell into the

Patapsco River, and first responders were able to rescue two of the

men shortly thereafter; and

WHEREAS, The deceased victims include Alejandro Hernandez

Fuentes, Dorlian Ronial Castillo Cabrera, Maynor Yasir

Suazo-Sandoval, Carlos Daniel Hernández, Miguel Angel Luna

Gonzalez, and Jose Mynor Lopez; and

WHEREAS, The collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge was a

heartbreaking tragedy that continues to resonate deeply throughout

the nation, and it is indeed appropriate on this solemn anniversary

to remember those whose lives were lost in this incident; now,

therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas

Legislature hereby commemorate the first anniversary of the

collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge and pay tribute to the

lives of Alejandro Hernandez Fuentes, Dorlian Ronial Castillo

Cabrera, Maynor Yasir Suazo-Sandoval, Carlos Daniel Hernández,

Miguel Angel Luna Gonzalez, and Jose Mynor Lopez; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

prepared for their families and that when the Texas House of

Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Alejandro

Fuentes, Dorlian Cabrera, Maynor Suazo-Sandoval, Carlos Hernández,

Miguel Gonzalez, and Jose Lopez.
