H.R. No. 605

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, Carla Campos of Haltom High School reached the

pinnacle of success by winning a gold medal at the 2025 University

Interscholastic League Wrestling State Tournament; and

WHEREAS, On February 14 and 15, Ms. Campos joined the other

top high school wrestlers in Texas at the Berry Center in Cypress;

she turned in a stellar performance in the 6A girls' 185-pound

weight division, defeating her Byron P. Steele II High School

opponent by fall in the semifinals to set up a title match showdown

against the two-time defending state champion Rylee Ferranti of

Klein Oak High School; with the state crown on the line, Ms. Campos

recorded a 6-2 decision for the victory; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Campos has achieved great success over the

course of her high school wrestling career, collecting three

district championships, two regional crowns, and two state

tournament medals; in addition to receiving All-American honors,

she has twice been named the Most Outstanding Wrestler for Region

1-6A and has been voted the District 4-6A Most Outstanding

Wrestler; and

WHEREAS, By claiming a gold medal in the state's premier

showcase for high school wrestlers, Carla Campos has ably

represented her school and community, and she may indeed take

justifiable pride in this exceptional accomplishment; now,

therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas

Legislature hereby congratulate Carla Campos on winning the 6A

girls' 185-pound weight division at the 2025 UIL Wrestling State

Tournament and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued

success; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

prepared for Ms. Campos as an expression of high regard by the Texas

House of Representatives.
