H.R. No. 712

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, Fourth-grade students of St. Mark's School of Texas

in Dallas are visiting the State Capitol on April 10, 2025,

providing a fitting opportunity to recognize the school's rich

history; and

WHEREAS, The campus traces its roots to 1906, when founder

Menter B. Terrill and his wife, Ada, established The Terrill School

for Boys; in 1946, the campus reopened as Cathedral School for Boys,

and four years later, it merged with Texas Country Day School to

form St. Mark's, a nonsectarian, college-preparatory, independent

day school for boys in grades 1 through 12; and

WHEREAS, St. Mark's strives to provide students with

well-rounded physical, intellectual, moral, and religious training

and instruction; today, the school serves more than 900 students,

and it offers challenging programs in the sciences, arts, and

humanities, as well as a variety of opportunities for involvement

and leadership on campus; and

WHEREAS, Over the past 119 years, St. Mark's has provided

countless young Texans a strong academic foundation on which to

build, and the school is indeed deserving of special recognition;

now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas

Legislature hereby honor the fourth-grade students of St. Mark's

School of Texas on the occasion of their visit to the State Capitol

and extend to them sincere best wishes for the future.
