H.R. No. 756

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever treasure their

memories of George L. Cullum III, who passed away on December 8,

2024, at the age of 68; and

WHEREAS, George Cullum was born on April 9, 1956, to

Janice S. Watson and George L. Cullum Jr., and he enjoyed the

companionship of two younger siblings, Jean Ann and Troy; he was

raised as a member of the Church of Christ, where he was baptized as

a teenager; and

WHEREAS, After high school, Mr. Cullum pursued a career in

the funeral industry and graduated from mortuary school at the top

of his class; he served as a funeral director for more than

25 years, during which time he offered comfort and support to

hundreds of grieving families; and

WHEREAS, This dynamic Texan was likewise well-respected for

his work as a certified firearms instructor and as a Dallas County

reserve sheriff's deputy; he was a skilled marksman, and he was

sought after by many for his knowledge of firearms and gun safety;

and

WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Cullum enjoyed the love

and support of his life partner of 24 years, Mary Beth Ashburn; the

couple shared a deep appreciation for country music and music

halls; Mr. Cullum was further blessed with two children, Kristin

and Clinton, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins and a

multitude of friends; and

WHEREAS, Admired for his good humor and cowboy charm, George

Cullum is deeply missed, and those who were privileged to know him

will forever carry him close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas

Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of George L. Cullum III

and extend sincere sympathy to his family and friends; and, be it

further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of

Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of George L.

Cullum III.
