H.R. No. 790

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, Dr. Kevin Cunningham of Eastland County is serving

as Physician of the Day at the State Capitol on April 10, 2025; and

WHEREAS, Since 1971, the Physician of the Day program at the

State Capitol has provided for a doctor to be on call each day of a

legislative session as a resource for legislators and support

staff; family physicians travel from all over the state to

volunteer their time and expertise at the Capitol health clinic;

and

WHEREAS, A board-certified family doctor with more than 20

years of experience, Dr. Cunningham serves on the medical staff at

B&W Healthcare Associates in Eastland, and he is affiliated with

Hendrick Medical Center South in Abilene; his interests include

public health, rural health, and teaching, and he has traveled to

Mexico, Haiti, Zambia, Costa Rica, and Ecuador for mission work;

and

WHEREAS, Dr. Cunningham completed his undergraduate studies

at Tarleton State University, and he went on to receive his master's

degree from Texas Tech University and his medical degree from the

University of North Texas Health Science Center; he completed his

residency training at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, and

he earned a master of public health degree at Johns Hopkins

Bloomberg School of Public Health; and

WHEREAS, Over the course of his career, Dr. Kevin Cunningham

has provided skilled and compassionate care to his fellow Texans,

and it is indeed fitting to honor him for his service to the

legislative community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas

Legislature hereby commend Dr. Kevin Cunningham for his

participation in the Physician of the Day program and extend to him

sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

prepared for Dr. Cunningham as an expression of high regard by the

Texas House of Representatives.
