H.R. No. 826

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, Alma Perez Jackson of San Antonio, an esteemed civic

leader and friend to many, passed away on March 17, 2025, at the age

of 71; and

WHEREAS, The daughter of Victor and Juanita Perez, the former

Alma Romelia Perez was born in Laredo on December 24, 1953, and she

grew up in San Antonio with seven siblings, Hector, Marie,

Rosalinda, Jane, Victor, Robert, and Raymond; she graduated from

The University of Texas at San Antonio in 2005; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Jackson was a distinguished figure in the Texas

GOP, earning a reputation for her passionate service, mentorship,

and commitment to conservative principles; in 2018, she began a

two-year tenure as vice chair of the Republican Party of Texas; in

that role, she advocated for rebranding the GOP moniker of "Grand

Old Party" to the "Greater Opportunity Party," and she traveled

across the state to meet with Republican leaders; a precinct chair

in her neighborhood, she served as an election judge for more than a

decade, chaired the Bexar County Republican Party Precinct

Organization Committee, and was a State Republican Executive

Committee member for Senate District 26; she also led the Juan

Seguin Society as president, taught civics classes, and served as a

prayer leader in Bexar County Republican circles, and she belonged

to a number of Republican women's organizations as well; in

recognition of her contributions, she was honored with a Volunteer

of the Year Award by the state Republican Party; and

WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, Mrs. Jackson enjoyed the love

and support of her husband of 43 years, the late Chris Jackson; she

was a devoted mother to their children, Tony, Cathy, and Kelly, and

she took great pride in her 12 grandchildren; gracious, generous,

and kind, she delighted in hosting events at her home; her life was

further enriched by her strong faith; and

WHEREAS, Deeply dedicated to her family and her community,

Alma Jackson made a meaningful difference in the lives of her loved

ones and fellow citizens alike, and her exceptional contributions

will continue to resonate for years to come; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas

Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Alma Perez Jackson

and extend sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her

children, Tony Castillo and his wife, Cindy, Cathy Yarbrough and

her husband, Sean, and Kelly Tyson and her husband, Ryan; to her

grandchildren, Ryan, Toni Rae, Joel, Sam, Arick, Kenady, Matthew,

Chloe, Brenner, Kyla, Jessa, and Jonathon; to her siblings, Marie

Rivas, Rosalinda Gallegos, Jane DeLeon, Victor Perez Jr., Robert

Perez, and Raymond Perez; and to her many other relatives and

friends; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of

Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Alma

Jackson.
