R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The girls' basketball team from Boswell High School
in Fort Worth closed out an unforgettable season by winning the 2025
University Interscholastic League 6A Division 2 state
championship; and
WHEREAS, The Pioneers began their journey to the title by
going undefeated in district play; continuing to excel in the
postseason, Boswell bested Southlake Carroll, El Paso Eastwood,
Little Elm Braswell, and Wolfforth Frenship High Schools to advance
to the state semifinals against Lancaster High School; delivering a
48-32 victory, Boswell secured the inaugural state final appearance
in program history; and
WHEREAS, On March 1, the Pioneers battled Hightower High
School for the state crown at the Alamodome in San Antonio;
following a scoreless opening three and a half minutes, Boswell got
on the board first and then ignited a 6-0 run at the end of the
second quarter to take a 25-18 advantage at the half; combining a
stout defense with sharp shooting from three-point range, the
Pioneers built a 13-point lead entering the final frame; emerging
triumphant by the final score of 51-42, Boswell became the first
girls' basketball team from the Eagle Mountain-Saginaw Independent
School District to claim a state championship, and it capped the
year with an impressive 39-2 record; and
WHEREAS, Boswell was led by Seleste Massey, the championship
game Most Valuable Player who was joined by Camille Williams on the
All-Tournament Team; excelling through teamwork, the Pioneers also
received valuable contributions throughout the year from the other
members of the roster: Kaliyah Hyman, Kaydence Daniels, Aniya
Jones, Sydney Durrah, Haleigh Jackson, Simaii Andrews, Salena
Carrasco, and Destiny O'connor; these determined student-athletes
were ably guided by head coach John Reese and assistant coaches
Ginger Williams, Brad Ingram, and Jason Hensley, and they received
additional support from principal Vaughn Flagler; and
WHEREAS, Winning a state championship represents the
culmination of countless hours of hard work and an unwavering
commitment to excellence, and the Boswell Pioneers will treasure
the memory of this accomplishment for the rest of their lives; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate the Boswell High School girls'
basketball team on winning the 2025 UIL 6A Division 2 state
championship and extend to the players, coaches, and staff sincere
best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
