H.R. No. 876

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, Corrections Workers Day is taking place on May 6,

2025; and

WHEREAS, Committed to protecting the safety of all Texans,

highly-trained law enforcement officers maintain order in jails,

prisons, and local correctional facilities while assisting adults

and juveniles who are undergoing rehabilitation, and they also

ensure that court orders are enforced; other employees also provide

critical support within the correctional system, including

administrators, chaplains, nurses, social workers, and teachers;

and

WHEREAS, Balancing a demanding career in an environment where

the threat of violence is always present, correctional

professionals endure physical and emotional demands every day;

moreover, the men and women who have lost their lives in the line of

duty have made the ultimate sacrifice for the safety and security of

our communities; and

WHEREAS, These dedicated and courageous Texans play a key

role in the criminal justice system, and it is indeed fitting to

recognize their service and their many contributions to society;

now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas

Legislature hereby recognize May 6, 2025, as Corrections Workers

Day and commend these officers and employees for their vital work.
