H.R. No. 883

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, Texas EquuSearch is marking its 25th anniversary in

2025, providing a fitting opportunity to commend the organization

for its exceptional work; and

WHEREAS, In August 2000, Tim Miller founded Texas EquuSearch

as a horse-mounted search and recovery team for the Galveston

County area; the nonprofit is dedicated to the memory of Mr.

Miller's daughter, Laura Miller, who was abducted and murdered in

Galveston County in 1984; and

WHEREAS, Headquartered near Houston in Dickinson, Texas

EquuSearch is a search and recovery organization that provides

services at the request of families and law enforcement personnel;

Mr. Miller serves as executive director of the award-winning

organization, and under his guidance, thousands of volunteers have

assisted with some 2,800 lost and missing person and murder victim

cases in nearly all 50 states and in multiple countries; to date,

more than 800 missing persons have been returned to their loved

ones; and

WHEREAS, The organization's resources have evolved over

time, and its highly skilled searchers are now utilizing the most

up-to-date technologies and methodologies, including side-scan

sonar, ground-penetrating radar, and sophisticated mapping

techniques; case research begins with the review of social media

accounts, the collection of security footage, and the analysis of

cell phone data, and boats, aircraft, drones, all-terrain vehicles,

and K-9 teams are also employed on search and recovery missions; and

WHEREAS, For a quarter century, Texas EquuSearch has rendered

invaluable service to distraught families experiencing the trauma

of a missing loved one and provided closure to many criminal cases,

and all those associated with the nonprofit are indeed deserving of

special recognition; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas

Legislature hereby congratulate Texas EquuSearch on its 25th

anniversary and extend to the organization's staff and volunteers

sincere appreciation for their dedication to their important

mission; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

prepared for Texas EquuSearch as an expression of high regard by the

Texas House of Representatives.
