SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 391
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Master Chief Clenon Mitchell on his exemplary service
and his outstanding career in the United States Navy, where he
served with honor, dedication, and unwavering commitment to his
country; and
WHEREAS, A native of Livingston, Clenon Mitchell answered
the call to serve and enlisted in the United States Navy in 1983,
thus embarking on a career of steadfast devotion to duty that has
spanned 25 years; and
WHEREAS, Master Chief Mitchell was appointed to patrol the
Western Pacific and Indian Oceans aboard the USS
Bolster
, a
salvage and rescue ship, and the USS
Roanoke
, a fuel and supply
vessel; throughout his deployment, his expertise in logistics
and mission readiness was critical to sustaining naval
operations and to ensuring the success of naval deployments; and
WHEREAS, His exceptional leadership was further
demonstrated in his role as Master Chief Petty Officer for
Logistics at the Naval Reserve Readiness Command Southwest in San
Diego and later as Command Chief at the Navy Operational Support
Center in Houston, where he served with honor and distinction
until his retirement from active duty in 2009; and
WHEREAS, In recognition of his remarkable service, Master
Chief Mitchell has received numerous commendations, including
the Meritorious Medal, three Navy Achievement Medals, and four
Navy Commendation Medals; on April 26, 2025, the Dunbar Alumni
Association will honor Master Chief Mitchell in recognition of
his enduring contributions to his country and community; his
commitment to service, leadership, and excellence stands as a
source of inspiration to all, and it is indeed fitting that this
esteemed Texan and devoted patriot receive special recognition
for his many achievements and his faithful service to his state
and nation; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
Legislature, hereby commend Master Chief Clenon Mitchell on his
extraordinary career and dedication to duty and extend to him
best wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
