SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 412

WHEREAS, Whataburger Wednesday is taking place at the

State Capitol on April 16, 2025; and

WHEREAS, Whataburger traces its roots to August 8, 1950,

when entrepreneur Harmon Dobson opened a small burger stand on

Ayers Street in Corpus Christi; he started with a simple goal, to

serve a burger that would inspire customers to exclaim "What a

burger!," and under his able leadership, the business rapidly

expanded to include a number of locations throughout Texas; by

the end of the decade, he opened the first out-of-state

Whataburger restaurant in Pensacola, Florida; and

WHEREAS, Today, Whataburger is headquartered in San

Antonio, and the business operates more than 1,100 restaurants

across 16 states, from Arizona to Florida; in addition, the

iconic Texas brand employs over 51,000 people and serves millions

of customers nationwide; and

WHEREAS, Whataburger is truly a Lone Star success story,

and all those associated with the company may take great pride in

their contributions to the state's economic vitality; now,

therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That April 16, 2025, be recognized as

Whataburger Wednesday at the State Capitol, and that sincere

appreciation be extended to the restaurant for its generous

participation in this event; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be

prepared for Whataburger by the Texas Senate.
