SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 417

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to

recognize May 6, 2025, as Golf Day in Texas; and

WHEREAS, A sport embraced by millions of Texans across all

ages and backgrounds, golfing provides recreational

opportunities that promote physical fitness, mental well-being,

and social interaction; and

WHEREAS, Texas stands as a national leader in the sport of

golf; proudly serving as the headquarters of PGA of America, the

state boasts more than 800 golf courses that span the state's

diverse and iconic landscapes; and

WHEREAS, The golf industry contributes significantly to

the Texas economy; in 2023, the golfing sector generated a total

impact of $14.2 billion and supported more than 107,000 jobs

while enriching local tourism and hospitality industries; and

WHEREAS, The state has a proud golf legacy, with 25 Texans

in the World Golf Hall of Fame and 102 Major Championships won by

Texans; Texas golf history is preserved through the Texas Golf

Hall of Fame museum and anchor sites in Frisco and San Antonio;

each year, many professional golf tournaments are held in Texas

as well as 15,000 golf-related charitable initiatives; and

WHEREAS, The sport is advanced in Texas by a strong

network of allied organizations, including the Northern and

Southern Texas Sections of PGA of America, the Texas Golf

Association, the Texas Golf Hall of Fame, the Texas Lone Star

Chapter of the Club Management Association of America, the

Lone Star Golf Course Superintendents Association of America,

and the Texas Alliance of Recreational Organizations; and

WHEREAS, Recognizing Golf Day in Texas provides an

opportunity to celebrate the sport's profound influence on the

state's economy and culture while encouraging more Texans to

engage in golf and to appreciate the sport's contributions to our

shared quality of life and its positive impact on Texas

communities; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th

Legislature, hereby recognize May 6, 2025, as Golf Day in Texas

and extend to all participants best wishes for a successful and

rewarding occasion; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in

honor of this special occasion.
