SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 418

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to

recognize The University of Texas at Arlington and to welcome

those who are gathering in Austin on April 17, 2025, to

celebrate The University of Texas at Arlington Day at the State

Capitol; and

WHEREAS, Since its founding in 1895, The University of

Texas at Arlington has evolved from its origins as a private

primary school to serve as a military academy and an agricultural

junior college before becoming established as the renowned

research university and community pillar it is today; and

WHEREAS, The University of Texas at Arlington is currently

the second-largest university in The University of Texas System

and has an enrollment of more than 41,000 students; within nine

colleges, the university offers 180 degree programs in such areas

of critical need as health care, construction management, big

data analytics, special education, and engineering; and

WHEREAS, Ranked as the ninth fastest-growing public

doctoral institution in the United States, The University of

Texas at Arlington has earned the prestigious Research 1

designation from the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of

Higher Education; through its world-class programs and

facilities, the university contributes globally impactful

research and approximately $59 million annually to the national

economy; and

WHEREAS, In April of 2025, the university marked a major

milestone with the groundbreaking of its new west campus, which

will further advance educational and workforce development in

one of the nation's most quickly growing regions; the school's

250,000 alumni also continue to make remarkable economic

contributions by generating $28.8 billion annually through

innovation, entrepreneurship, and service; and

WHEREAS, In 2025, The University of Texas at Arlington

proudly celebrates 130 years of academic excellence, research

innovation, and transformative impact, and it is indeed fitting

to commemorate its enduring legacy and its ongoing commitment to

progress in higher education; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th

Legislature, hereby recognize April 17, 2025, as The University

of Texas at Arlington Day at the State Capitol and extend to the

visiting delegation best wishes for a meaningful and memorable

visit to Austin; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in

honor of this special occasion.
