SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 427

WHEREAS, The Texas Authors Museum & Institute of History is

celebrating its 10th anniversary in April 2025; and

WHEREAS, This outstanding organization traces its roots to

2014, when B. Alan Bourgeois established the first museum

dedicated to preserving the legacy of Texas authors; since its

inception, the nonprofit has curated a comprehensive collection

of rare manuscripts, first editions, personal papers, and other

literary artifacts, helping to ensure that the state's rich

literary history is accessible to researchers, historians,

educators, and the general public; in addition, the organization

has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to supporting the

publishing industry in Texas, which annually generates more than

$500 million in tax revenue; and

WHEREAS, TAMIH has worked to enhance literary education

through partnerships with schools, libraries, and cultural

institutions; the organization has also established a number of

educational outreach programs such as writing workshops,

lectures, book signings, and other special events to foster

appreciation for literature and to help to develop future

authors; and

WHEREAS, This year, TAMIH is marking its 10th anniversary

with a variety of fun and engaging programs; the organization is

hosting the Y'all Write Challenge in March, and during its Lone

Star Festival in June, it plans to set a world record by featuring

120 Texas authors who will read from their published works for

more than 30 hours; and

WHEREAS, By highlighting the stories and achievements of

Texas authors, TAMIH is enriching the cultural fabric of the Lone

Star State and inspiring future generations of writers, and the

organization is indeed worthy of special recognition on this

special milestone in its history; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th

Legislature, hereby commemorate the 10th anniversary of the

Texas Authors Museum & Institute of History and extend to all

those affiliated with the organization sincere best wishes for

the future; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be

prepared for TAMIH as an expression of high regard from the Texas

Senate.
