SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 431

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to

recognize Saint John of the Cross Catholic Church in Orange

Grove, which is celebrating the 100th anniversary of its

establishment as a parish; and

WHEREAS, The church's first building was erected in 1914,

and it was founded as a mission of Sacred Heart Parish in

Falfurrias in 1918; in 1925, Saint John of the Cross Mission

became a parish, and the church was relocated to a property near

its present location; and

WHEREAS, Over the years, the church has experienced

immense growth in its congregants and ministries and has

undergone leadership changes as well as many renovations and

updates, including the construction of a new office, a rectory,

and a religious education building; and

WHEREAS, Saint John of the Cross Catholic Church has served

as a place of worship, guidance, and fellowship for generations

of parishioners; the church has been a cornerstone of the

community and a source of hope and unity through its educational

programs and charitable initiatives, which have benefited

countless individuals and families in the area; and

WHEREAS, The centennial celebration of Saint John of the

Cross Catholic Church is an opportunity for its clergy and

parishioners to reflect on the enduring faith and devotion that

have shaped its legacy of service and goodwill, and it is indeed

fitting that all who contribute to the mission of Saint John of

the Cross Catholic Church join in celebrating this significant

milestone in the church's history; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th

Legislature, hereby recognize the parish of Saint John of the

Cross Catholic Church on the occasion of its 100th anniversary

and extend to its leaders and parishioners best wishes for

continued success in their ministry; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for

the church in honor of this special occasion.
