SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 464

WHEREAS, Laura Koerner is concluding her tenure on the

Fair Oaks Ranch City Council in May 2025, providing a fitting

opportunity to recognize her outstanding record of

achievement; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Koerner has served her fellow citizens with

distinction as an at-large member of the city council since 2017,

and she became the mayor pro tem in May 2021; she has further

contributed to Fair Oaks Ranch as president of the city's

Municipal Development District board of directors and as a member

of its communications and branding and emergency operations

committees; currently a member of Camino Real Republican Women,

she has served on the board of the Texas Federation of Republican

Women and as communications director of the Republican Party of

Bexar County; and

WHEREAS, A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Ms. Koerner was among

the first American women to serve on destroyers and aircraft

carriers; she was stationed as a nuclear surface warfare officer

onboard the USS
Mahan
and the USS
Enterprise
, and she earned two

Commendation Medals and an Achievement Medal; she has since

continued to support her fellow service members as chair of the

Texas Veterans Commission, as a member of the Texas State

Veterans Cemetery Committee, and as a blue and gold officer for

the U.S. Naval Academy; a project manager and engineer, she holds

a bachelor's degree in systems engineering from the U.S. Naval

Academy and a master's degree in nuclear engineering from the

Massachusetts Institute of Technology, as well as certification

as a nuclear propulsion plant operator from the Naval Nuclear

Power School; and

WHEREAS, Laura Koerner has demonstrated a longstanding

commitment to making Fair Oaks Ranch a better place for all, and

she has earned the lasting admiration and appreciation of her

fellow residents; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th

Legislature, hereby commend Laura Koerner for her exemplary

service as mayor pro tem of Fair Oaks Ranch and extend to her

sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be

prepared for Ms. Koerner as an expression of high regard from the

Texas Senate.
