SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 471

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to

recognize Royce Chadwick, who is retiring as head women's

basketball coach of Texas A&M University--Corpus Christi after a

long and distinguished career in coaching; and

WHEREAS, Previous to joining the Islanders in Corpus

Christi, Royce Chadwick enjoyed nearly three decades of coaching

success, including approximately 1,000 total career games, at

Marshall University, Stephen F. Austin University, Sam Houston

State University, Oklahoma Panhandle State University, and

Howard Junior College; and

WHEREAS, Coach Chadwick began his tenure at Texas A&M

University--Corpus Christi in 2012, and he has since become the

winningest coach in Southland Conference history; during the

2023-2024 season, he also became the first men's or women's

basketball coach in the university's history to reach a 750-win

total in his career; and

WHEREAS, An exemplary coach, colleague, and mentor, Royce

Chadwick has had a positive impact on the lives of countless

young people, and his presence at Texas A&M University--Corpus

Christi will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th

Legislature, hereby commend Royce Chadwick on his illustrious

career as a basketball coach and extend to him best wishes for

continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for

him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
