SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 480

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to

recognize Dr. Bhavana Mocherla, who is serving as Physician of

the Day at the State Capitol on May 14, 2025; and

WHEREAS, Each day of a legislative session, a member of the

Texas Academy of Family Physicians volunteers valuable time away

from their practice to assist legislators and support staff at

the Capitol health clinic; and

WHEREAS, Inspired to pursue medicine due to the lack of

women in the profession in India, Dr. Mocherla earned a doctor of

medicine degree from Lady Harding Medical School in New Delhi;

she pursued certification as a Physician Assistant at

Philadelphia University and practiced for a number of years

before completing her residency at the Texas Tech University

Health Science Center Permian Basin, where she served as the

chief resident; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Mocherla currently serves as the Regional

Medical Director at the Innovista Medical Center in Houston, and

her commitment to community is showcased by her involvement with

the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine and the American Board

of Family Medicine; and

WHEREAS, A highly regarded medical professional and an

esteemed member of her community, Dr. Mocherla exemplifies the

highest ideals of the medical profession, and it is indeed a

pleasure to welcome her to the Capitol; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th

Legislature, hereby commend Dr. Bhavana Mocherla on her

participation in the Physician of the Day program and extend to

her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for

her as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
