SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 513

WHEREAS, High school graduation is one of life's pivotal

milestones, and the members of the fourth class of Miles Ahead

Scholars are participating in that joyful rite of passage with

their graduation from the Houston Independent School District in

2025; and

WHEREAS, Established in 2019, the Miles Ahead Scholars

Program aims to improve educational outcomes and increase

enrollment of African American and Latino male students at the

nation's most selective universities; the program provides

academic support and enrichment opportunities such as

mentorship, travel experiences, tutoring, and college and career

counseling in order to help prepare high school students for

success in higher education; and

WHEREAS, This year, 22 Miles Ahead Scholars are graduating

from high school: Osvaldo Sandoval, Clymond Judson Hill, Jamal

Matin Burnett, Joseph Andrews, Brandon Artero, Marice Campbell,

Felix Castillo, Darrell Cox, Daniel Estrada, Miguel Angel Garza,

Leonidas Hernandez, Regulo Martinex-Jimenez, Jamar Pinson, Angel

Rodriguez Osorio, James Eddie Williams, Broderick Alexander,

Jaronne Carter, Tyrin Dwayne Clemmons, Elian Gomez Hernandez,

Dante Laurent, Anthony Razo, and Richard Anthony Vasquez; and

WHEREAS, Exciting challenges and opportunities await these

outstanding young Texans, and they may reflect with pride on

their achievements as they embark on a future bright with

promise; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th

Legislature, hereby congratulate the members of the Miles Ahead

Scholars Program Class of 2025 on their graduation and extend to

them sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness;

and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be

prepared for the class as an expression of high regard from the

Texas Senate.
