SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 514

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to

recognize Citizens State Bank on the grand occasion of the

financial institution's 100th anniversary; and

WHEREAS, Established in 1925, Citizens State Bank built a

strong foundation in Somerville by prioritizing highly

personalized and professional customer service that fostered

trust and loyalty among clients and area residents; and

WHEREAS, The bank persevered through the struggles of the

Great Depression and was entrusted to the leadership of Ervin B.

Flencher Sr., who initiated his career at Citizens State Bank as

a janitor; he guided the institution through the challenges of

World War II into an era of marked growth and success and

reinforced the bank's commitment to local development through

his civic involvement and leadership as mayor of Somerville; and

WHEREAS, Citizens State Bank opened its second location in

1989 in Deanville, and the company has continued to expand over

the decades with the establishment of branches in Caldwell,

Snook, Navasota, Burton, and Brenham; its focus on technological

advancement and enhancing service has helped the bank to stay

competitive in a rapidly evolving industry and to meet the

changing needs of a diverse customer base across Burleson,

Washington, and Grimes Counties; and

WHEREAS, Throughout the past century, the financial

professionals at Citizens State Bank have remained steadfastly

committed to providing superior customer service and excellence

in banking, and the institution has contributed greatly to the

growth and progress of the communities it serves; now, therefore,

be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th

Legislature, hereby commend the leadership and staff of Citizens

State Bank for continuing a proud tradition of financial

stewardship in the Lone Star State and extend to all

congratulations on a century of service and best wishes for

continued success; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for

the bank as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
