SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 525

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to

recognize Jose Noe Mendez on the grand occasion of his 100th

birthday; and

WHEREAS, This distinguished military veteran honorably

served the nation during World War II, and he is noted for his

wisdom, warmth, and generous spirit and is a respected and

admired citizen of Corpus Christi; and

WHEREAS, Jose Mendez was born in Tampico, Mexico, on April

27, 1925, and he grew up in Duval County, where he learned the

value of hard work and dedication working with livestock and

selling animal hides; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Mendez was called to serve in World War II,

and he spent many months valiantly defending the Allied Forces on

the front lines of such historic events as the Battle of the

Bulge, Hurtgen Forest, and operations in Central Europe; and

WHEREAS, Galvanized by the comrades he fought alongside

during the war, Mr. Mendez committed himself to serving as an

advocate for veterans' rights, and throughout the previous eight

decades, he has worked to serve and unify people in his community

and country; he is an esteemed citizen and a beloved and

respected longtime resident of Corpus Christi, and he has

contributed to his community through such endeavors as

cofounding the Westside Business Association and serving as a

city planning commissioner; and

WHEREAS, A treasured Texan, Jose Mendez has witnessed many

historic events during his lifetime, and there is much to be

learned from the wisdom he has gained over the years; his 100th

year of life is an occasion for much rejoicing among his family

and friends, and his loved ones gathered on April 25, 2025, to

share in celebrating this important milestone in his life; now,

therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th

Legislature, hereby commend Jose Noe Mendez on his many

accomplishments and extend to him congratulations and best

wishes on the joyous occasion of his 100th birthday; and, be it

further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for

him as a memento of this special day.
