SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 527

WHEREAS, Wayne R. Maynard of Dallas is being recognized

with the Governor's Lifetime Achievement Award at the 41st annual

Governor's Volunteer Awards on April 23, 2025; and

WHEREAS, Each year, the Governor's Volunteer Awards honor

the exemplary service of individuals, groups, and organizations

that have made significant contributions to Texas communities;

the awards are presented by the governor of Texas and

administered by OneStar; and

WHEREAS, Wayne Maynard has served for more than two decades

as a volunteer pilot for Angel Flight South Central; after flying

his brother-in-law to cancer treatment, he was inspired to lend

his skill and expertise to the organization; the Tulsa,

Oklahoma-based nonprofit transports people in rural areas to and

from urban medical centers for dialysis, chemotherapy, and other

procedures; and

WHEREAS, Since 2004, Mr. Maynard has completed more than

300 missions at his own cost; as Northeast Texas wing leader and

later as chair of the AFSC board, he expanded pilot recruitment,

revamped bylaws, and established a pilot recognition program; he

has secured more than $1 million in donations for the

organization through such initiatives as the annual Mission

Possible: Soaring Hearts Gala and fundraising solo flights to the

North Pole; and

WHEREAS, Wayne Maynard has set an inspiring example

through his long record of service to a lifesaving organization,

and he is richly deserving of this prestigious accolade; now,

therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th

Legislature, hereby congratulate Wayne R. Maynard on receiving

the Governor's Lifetime Achievement Award and extend to him

sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be

prepared for Mr. Maynard as an expression of high regard from the

Texas Senate.
