SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 532
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the Community Council of South Central Texas on the
grand occasion of its 60th anniversary; and
WHEREAS, This trusted charitable institution was founded
as the Community Council of Comal County on May 11, 1965, to help
families alleviate the sources and effects of poverty; the
private nonprofit organization broadened its reach four months
after opening to assist residents of Blanco County, and the
council adopted its current name in 1971 to reflect the expansive
region it began to cover; and
WHEREAS, In the decades since its establishment, the
Community Council of South Central Texas has upheld its mission
to empower low-income individuals and families experiencing
adversity, and today, the council helps to connect clients in 31
Texas counties with local, state, and federal resources and to
help them gain the skills and knowledge needed to build a secure
foundation for comfort and success in the future; and
WHEREAS, The Community Council of South Central Texas
operates with the belief that barriers to self-sufficiency can be
eliminated through innovative programs and strong community
partnerships; the organization has made a positive difference in
the lives of innumerable citizens, and it is truly deserving of
special recognition for 60 years of success and service to the
community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
Legislature, hereby congratulate the staff, partners, and
community leaders of the Community Council of South Central Texas
on the 60th anniversary of the organization and extend to all best
wishes for continued success in the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the council as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
