Recognizing Ashley Harris-Land for receiving an AmeriCorps Legacy of Service Award.

SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 539

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to

recognize Ashley Harris-Land, who was recently honored with the

2024 AmeriCorps Legacy of Service Award; and

WHEREAS, This prestigious accolade highlights the

exemplary achievements of AmeriCorps alumni who have gone above

and beyond the scope of their service requirements in addressing

the nation's most pressing challenges; this honor was conferred

upon her at the 41st Annual Governor Volunteer Awards, which took

place on April 23, 2025; and

WHEREAS, Ashley Harris-Land currently serves as an

AmeriCorps program director, and she began her AmeriCorps

commitment at Legacy Community Health in 2018 as a full-time

member; she distinguished herself for professional excellence by

assisting the center in modernizing its curriculum and

coordinating its prenatal education opportunities; while serving

in this capacity, she earned certification as a child passenger

safety technician; and

WHEREAS, During her tenure as program director, Ashley

expanded the Legacy Community Health program to include more than

70 AmeriCorps members; she has helped guide the program's

technology transitions, COVID-19 response efforts, and major

fund-raising events, and she continues to volunteer her time with

Connect Community and as a speaker at AmeriCorps events; and

WHEREAS, An exemplary public servant, Ashley models the

highest ideals of AmeriCorps and inspires countless volunteers

by unselfishly donating her time to help her community and by

inspiring other AmeriCorps members to continue on their journeys

with the organization; it is indeed fitting that she receive

special recognition for her generous volunteerism and for her

efforts to improve health outcomes and service opportunities in

the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th

Legislature, hereby commend Ashley Harris-Land on her

outstanding service with AmeriCorps and extend to her

congratulations on receiving an AmeriCorps Legacy of Service

Award and best wishes for the future; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for

her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
