SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 54

WHEREAS, Texan Vincent Hancock proudly represented his

nation by winning the gold medal in the men's skeet shooting

event and a silver medal in the skeet mixed team event at the

Summer Olympic Games in Paris in August 2024; and

WHEREAS, Having previously triumphed in 2008, 2012, and

2021, Mr. Hancock claimed a historic fourth gold medal in the

men's Olympic skeet competition during the Paris games to join an

exclusive group of only six athletes who have won the same event

at four different Olympic Games; he opened the 2024 event by

hitting 123 out of 125 shots in the qualifying round, ranking in

fourth place, and he turned in an exceptional performance during

the final round on August 3 by hitting 58 out of 60 shots,

finishing just one point off of the Olympic record he set in 2021;

and

WHEREAS, Two days later, Mr. Hancock went on to win his

fifth career Olympic medal by securing second place in the skeet

mixed team event on August 5 alongside his partner, Austen Smith;

the duo hit 148 out of 150 shots during the qualifying round, with

Mr. Hancock pulling out a flawless shoot-off and posting a

perfect score of 75, and they were one point behind Italy going

into the finals; ultimately, they claimed the silver medal with a

final tally of 44 out of 48 shots; and

WHEREAS, Inspired by his father and brother, Mr. Hancock

began taking part in shooting sports at an early age, and among

his many accomplishments, he has won five world championships and

has medaled in numerous world cups; in addition, he was a member

of the U.S. Army for six years, including service in the

Marksmanship Unit, and in 2023, he opened his own shooting range

in Fort Worth and has since distinguished himself as an

outstanding coach and mentor to numerous individuals; in all his

endeavors, he benefits from the love and support of his wife,

Rebekah, and their two daughters, Bailey and Brenlyn; and

WHEREAS, With his victorious performance on the Olympic

stage, Vincent Hancock has furthered his legacy as one of the top

skeet shooters of all time, and he may take justifiable pride in a

job well done; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th

Legislature, hereby congratulate Vincent Hancock on winning two

medals in skeet shooting at the 2024 Summer Olympic Games and

extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be

it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be

prepared for Mr. Hancock as an expression of high regard from the

Texas Senate.
