SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 543

WHEREAS, The Reverend Marvin Joe Moore and his wife,

Mildred Ann Moore, are being honored on May 25, 2025, for their 50

years of pastoral leadership at First Church Bay City; and

WHEREAS, Over the past five decades, Reverend and Sister

Moore have guided their church with steadfast dedication and

compassion; both husband and wife hold multiple certifications

and licenses, and they have demonstrated a firm commitment to

meeting the needs of their congregants as well as to providing

mentorship to aspiring members of the clergy; along the way, they

have been blessed to watch their children and grandchildren

follow in their footsteps by becoming involved in the church's

pastoral, music, and outreach ministries; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Marvin Joe Moore has preached the gospel all

over the world, including in such faraway places as South Africa,

Hong Kong, the Philippines, France, Israel, India, and the

Netherlands; his overseas ministry work continues to this day,

and next year, he plans to visit and meet with ministers in Goa,

India; and

WHEREAS, A former schoolteacher and a licensed

professional counselor, Sister Mildred Ann Moore is focused on

helping victims of domestic violence, and she is an active part

of the county's crisis intervention team for those needing

counseling during emergencies and disasters; she has played a

vital role in the music ministry at First Church Bay City, and she

has inspired many people by sharing her gifts as a musician with

her congregation and during her husband's foreign ministry

travels; and

WHEREAS, For half a century, Reverend Marvin Joe Moore and

Sister Mildred Ann Moore have wholeheartedly committed

themselves to advancing the mission of First Church Bay City, and

it is indeed a pleasure to join in recognizing the couple as they

celebrate this special milestone; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th

Legislature, hereby honor the Reverend Marvin Joe Moore and

Sister Mildred Ann Moore for their 50 years of pastoral service

at First Church Bay City and extend to them sincere best wishes

for the future; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be

prepared for the couple as an expression of high regard from the

Texas Senate.
