SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 544

WHEREAS, Since 2024, the Texas Parks and Wildlife

Department has recognized the owners of two Culberson County

ranches for their excellence in conservation by presenting them

with the Lone Star Land Steward Ecoregion Award; and

WHEREAS, The Trans-Pecos Ecoregion Award was presented in

2024 to the W. C. Sibley family, owners of the Sibley Last Chance

Ranch; and

WHEREAS, In 2025, the same accolade was presented to the

Bar O Land and Cattle Company ranch, owned by Tim and Lou

Edwards; and

WHEREAS, The Lone Star Land Steward Awards were

established in 1996 as part of TPWD's Private Lands Program; the

awards publicize best practices by acknowledging landowners who

set high standards in wildlife conservation and habitat and

natural resource management; the honors help raise awareness of

our state's ecological diversity while highlighting the work of

private landowners who are committed to maintaining their

property's land, water, and wildlife; and

WHEREAS, Conscientious landowners play an essential role

in maintaining the beauty, natural resources, and sustained

ecological diversity of the Lone Star State, and through their

outstanding contributions, the W. C. Sibley Family and Tim and

Lou Edwards are helping to preserve these benefits for future

generations; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th

Legislature, hereby congratulate the W. C. Sibley family of the

Sibley Last Chance Ranch and Tim and Lou Edwards of the Bar O Land

and Cattle Company ranch on receiving the Lone Star Land Steward

Trans-Pecos Ecoregion Award and extend to them sincere best

wishes for continued success; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be

prepared for the award winners as an expression of high regard

from the Texas Senate.
