SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 551

In Memory

of

Lucia Nedelcu

WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever cherish their

memories of Lucia Nedelcu of Sachse, who passed away on May 21,

2024, at the age of 89; and

WHEREAS, The daughter of Nicolae and Paraschiva Carcoana,

the former Lucia Carcoana was born in Bucharest, Romania, on

August 15, 1934, and she grew up with the companionship of six

siblings, Rodica, Radu, Cornelia, Dorina, Lidia, and Aurel; and

WHEREAS, On April 22, 1961, she married Eugene Pompilian

Nedelcu, and the couple shared in a rewarding marriage spanning

63 years; she was the proud mother of seven children, Simona,

Mihai, Delia, Corina, Adina, Lucia, and Despina, who preceded her

mother in death; over the years, her treasured family grew to

include 20 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and 2 bonus

grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Nedelcu worked as an economist and

accountant in Romania before becoming a full-time homemaker; a

woman of faith, she attended Garland Bible Chapel and Community

Bible Chapel; in her leisure time, she enjoyed swimming, cooking,

baking, reading, writing, and gardening; known for her kindness

and generosity, she took pleasure in hosting loved ones, giving

them gifts, and offering them words of wisdom; and

WHEREAS, Lucia Nedelcu lived a rich and purposeful life

centered around her family and her faith, and she will long be

remembered with deep affection by all who knew her; now,

therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th

Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Lucia Nedelcu

and extend sincere condolences to all who mourn her passing; and,

be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be

prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns

this day, it do so in memory of Lucia Nedelcu.
