SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 580

In Memory

of

Carlotta Young

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the

citizens of Georgetown in mourning the loss of Carlotta Young,

who died on March 10, 2025, at the age of 80; and

WHEREAS, A native Texan, Carlotta was born on September 12,

1944, in Ames, Texas; she was bright and creative from an early

age and graduated from Carter G. Woodson High School in Raywood,

and she went on to study clothing and textiles at Prairie View A&M

University and earned her bachelor's degree; and

WHEREAS, On February 17, 1968, Carlotta married the love of

her life, Clark Young, shortly after his return from Vietnam;

they were blessed with a son and a daughter, who enriched their

lives immeasurably, and their union spanned more than five

decades and was an example and a source of inspiration to their

loved ones; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Young was a passionate and gifted educator

who devoted four decades to shaping young minds; she taught

fourth grade for 17 years in Rochester, Minnesota, and taught

sixth grade for 23 years in Georgetown, and she recognized in her

most energetic and active students her own spirited nature and

tailored her teaching methods to help them thrive; and

WHEREAS, A woman of abiding faith, Carlotta was a member of

Saint Helen's Catholic Church for more than 35 years, and she

found great solace in prayer and her spiritual practice; she was

noted for her outstanding dedication as an educator and for her

exceptional creativity, and she generously lent her time and

talents to assist friends with sewing alterations and artistic

endeavors; above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, and

grandmother, who cherished her time spent together with her

family; and

WHEREAS, Carlotta Young made a positive and lasting

difference in the lives of countless individuals; her memory will

be forever treasured by her family and friends, and although she

will be deeply missed, her legacy of love, service, and faith

will endure in the hearts of all who were privileged to share in

her life; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th

Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved

family of Carlotta Young; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for

her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas

Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in

memory of Carlotta Young.
