SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 587

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to

recognize the Association of Water Board Directors-Texas on the

grand occasion of its 50th anniversary; and

WHEREAS, Founded in 1975, the Association of Water Board

Directors-Texas was established in response to the growth of

utility districts in Texas, and the association remains

dedicated to the betterment of Texas water district operation and

management through education, unification, and advocacy; and

WHEREAS, Utility districts have proven to be essential to

economic growth in Texas and have led to the expansion of

flourishing communities and businesses; the Association of Water

Board Directors-Texas provides a forum for utility directors to

address industry concerns and issues, stay abreast on

developments that affect water operations, and exchange ideas to

promote cost savings and operational efficiency; and

WHEREAS, The Association of Water Board Directors-Texas is

composed of more than 1,000 members from water and utility

districts, consulting companies, suppliers, and vendors that

support this essential industry; its exemplary staff network

with state agencies and direct relevant matters from the Texas

Legislature, the Texas Commission on Environmental Policy, and

the Environmental Protection Agency; and

WHEREAS, All who have contributed to the half-century of

success of the Association of Water Board Directors-Texas are

deserving of recognition on their efforts to improve and preserve

water districts in the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th

Legislature, hereby extend congratulations to the Association of

Water Board Directors-Texas on 50 years of service and extend to

its board of trustees, advisory council, members, and staff

sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for

the association as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
