SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 601

In Memory

of

Robert Berryhill

WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever cherish their

memories of Robert Gerald Berryhill of Gilmer, who passed away on

April 21, 2025, at the age of 79; and

WHEREAS, The son of Rufus and Maudina Berryhill, Bob

Berryhill was born in Corsicana on December 2, 1945, and he grew

up with the companionship of two brothers, Ronald and James; he

graduated from W. W. Samuel High School in 1964 and later earned

associate's degrees from Kilgore College; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Berryhill served in the United States Air

Force from 1965 to 1969; after returning to civilian life, he

embarked on a rewarding career with Southwestern Bell and

eventually retired in 2008; and

WHEREAS, On September 19, 1969, Mr. Berryhill married

Jacquelyn Guinn, and two years later, the couple settled in

Longview, where they built their family home and raised horses;

they became the parents of two children, Kimberly and David, and

with the passing years, their family grew to include seven

grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a man of strong

faith, Mr. Berryhill taught a college Sunday school class at

Calvary Baptist Church for many years alongside his wife, and he

also served the congregation as a deacon; a master storyteller,

he loved spending time with family and friends; and

WHEREAS, Although Bob Berryhill is deeply missed, those

who held him dear will forever remember the warmth and generosity

that he brought into their lives; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th

Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Robert Gerald

Berryhill and extend sincere condolences to the members of his

family: to his wife, Jacquelyn Guinn Berryhill; to his brother,

James Berryhill, and his wife, Jeannie; to his children,

Kimberly Anderson and her husband, David, and David Berryhill

and his wife, Eve; to his grandchildren, Ethan, Ivar, and Asher

Anderson, Benjamin, Elise, and Alaina Berryhill, and Ilse

Huitema and her husband, Ricky; to his great-grandchildren,

Gideon and Celia Huitema; and to his other relatives and many

friends; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be

prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns

this day, it do so in memory of Bob Berryhill.
