SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 604

In Memory

of

Shirley Gilbreath

WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever cherish their

memories of Shirley Lee Watson Gilbreath, who passed away on

October 19, 2024, at the age of 72; and

WHEREAS, The daughter of John Lee Watson and Ira Jeter, the

former Shirley Watson was born in Tyler on July 4, 1952, and she

grew up with the companionship of a sister, Linda; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Gilbreath enjoyed the love and support of her

husband, Robert, with whom she shared a rewarding marriage that

spanned 42 years; she was a nurturing mother to their three

children, Monica, Jerry Lee, and Sean, as well as to her bonus

son, Russell; over the years, her treasured family grew to

include eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Deeply devoted to her family, Mrs. Gilbreath

spent countless hours sharing stories and supporting them in all

of their endeavors, and she was always ready with a listening ear

and words of advice; she also had a profound love for animals,

caring for numerous pets over the course of her lifetime; and

WHEREAS, Although Shirley Gilbreath is deeply missed, the

passage of time will never diminish the kindness and joy that she

brought into the lives of all who knew her; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th

Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Shirley Lee

Watson Gilbreath and extend sincere condolences to the members of

her family: to her husband, Robert Gilbreath; to her children,

Monica Bailey and her husband, Derrick, Jerry Lee Tucker, and

Sean Tucker and his wife, Angel; to her bonus son, Russell Terry;

to her grandchildren, Joshua, Amber and her husband, Chase,

Nathan and his wife, Samantha, Brooke and her husband, Jonathan,

Brian, Kirstin, and Maddison; to her great-grandchildren, Ethan,

Jace, Gracelynn, Winry, Emilee, Ella, Blakeney, Charlee, and

Evie; to her best friend, Cheryl Tucker; and to her many other

relatives and friends; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be

prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns

this day, it do so in memory of Shirley Gilbreath.
