SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 609

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to

recognize Officer Marco Ramirez of the Corpus Christi Police

Department on his selection as a recipient of the 2025 Top Cop

Award from the National Association of Police Organizations; and

WHEREAS, Nominated for the award by his fellow officers,

Marco Ramirez is one of only ten officers nationwide chosen to

receive this prestigious honor, and he was recognized with a

2025 Top Cop Award by the National Association of Police

Organizations at its 32nd annual ceremony held on May 12 in

Washington, D.C.; and

WHEREAS, The National Association of Police Organizations

was founded in 1978 and represents the interests of more than

1,000 police units and over 240,000 law enforcement officers;

each year, the organization pays tribute to individual law

enforcement officers across the nation who have performed

extraordinary acts of bravery and service during the previous

year; the program aims to pay tribute to these exemplary

individuals while highlighting the vital role of law enforcement

in protecting communities across the nation; and

WHEREAS, A native of Corpus Christi and a graduate of the

81st Police Academy, Officer Marco Ramirez has served with

distinction with the Corpus Christi Police Department for three

years; he is recognized for his heroic actions performed in the

course of responding to a reported domestic disturbance

incident, during which he rendered critical aid to Officer Kyle

Hicks, who was fatally wounded in the line of duty; and

WHEREAS, Officer Ramirez's courage, decisive action, and

dedication to duty exemplify the highest ideals of law

enforcement, and it is indeed fitting that he receive special

recognition as one of our nation's heroes for his exemplary

service and contributions to the Lone Star State; now, therefore,

be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th

Legislature, hereby commend Officer Marco Ramirez on his

selection as a recipient of the 2025 Top Cop Award and extend to

him best wishes for success in all his future endeavors; and, be

it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for

him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
