SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 611

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to

recognize Robert Trevino Mendieta in honor of the grand occasion

of his 81st birthday; and

WHEREAS, A native Texan, Robert Mendieta was born in

Victoria on July 7, 1944; he graduated from Victoria High School

in 1963, and he went on to serve with distinction for four years

in the United States Air Force as part of the Computer Material

Control Unit at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City; and

WHEREAS, Robert shared more than 50 years of marriage with

his beloved wife, the late Eva Hernandez, and their unwavering

love and devotion was an enduring example to their three

children, Madeline Marie, Valerie Jean, and Robert Louis; and

WHEREAS, A well-known figure to many through his career in

the beverage industry, Robert is respected and admired by the

colleagues and numerous others who came to know and appreciate

him through his work; in his role with Hartman Distributing, he

was instrumental in creating festivals and events in Victoria

that featured Tejano music and legendary Tejano artists and were

much enjoyed by the local community; and

WHEREAS, Robert finds strength and solace in spiritual

devotion and his lifelong Catholic faith, and he has given

generously of his time to help others and to support charitable

organizations and services; his longtime membership in the

Knights of Columbus Council 8388 and his involvement with

Catholic War Veterans Saint John's Post 1269 have been a source

of much camraderie and fulfillment to him over the years; and

WHEREAS, Robert Mendieta is a devoted father and

grandfather, a distinguished military veteran, and a cherished

member of the Victoria community, and the occasion of his 81st

birthday is truly cause for celebration among his many loved

ones; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th

Legislature, hereby recognize Robert Mendieta as a treasured

citizen of the Lone Star State and extend to him congratulations

and best wishes on his 81st birthday; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for

him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
