SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 649

WHEREAS, Representatives from the nonprofit Eva's Heroes

are gathering at the State Capitol on February 25, 2025; and

WHEREAS, Founded in 2006 by actress Eva Longoria Baston and

Christiane Perkins-Garcia, Eva's Heroes is a San Antonio-based

organization dedicated to enriching the lives of individuals

with special needs by creating an inclusive environment anchored

on four tenets: interact, grow, learn, and love; sustained by a

team that includes its board of directors, staff, donors, and

volunteers, the organization serves more than 1,900 teens and

young adults in Bexar County each year; and

WHEREAS, Eva's Heroes provides people with disabilities

age 14 and older the opportunity to enjoy social and recreational

experiences and become more active members of the San Antonio

community; the organization facilitates a variety of activities,

such as bowling, yoga, and photography, as well as trips to local

events, including shows at the Majestic Theatre and San Antonio

Spurs games; the organization also hosts three dances each year

and offers a number of weeklong summer enrichment camps; in

addition, the SA Sibs program features monthly sessions designed

for adults who have siblings with intellectual disabilities; and

WHEREAS, For nearly two decades, Eva's Heroes has helped

to make the community a more welcoming and accepting place for

all San Antonians, and in so doing, it is making a profound

difference in the lives of countless families; now, therefore,

be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th

Legislature, hereby recognize February 25, 2025, as Eva's Heroes

Day at the State Capitol and extend a warm welcome to the visiting

delegation; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be

prepared for Eva's Heroes as an expression of high regard from

the Texas Senate.
