SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 651

In Memory

of

Annie Mixon

WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the

passing of Annie Laura Mixon of New Boston on March 13, 2025,

at the age of 88; and

WHEREAS, The daughter of Ed and Alma Anderson, the former

Annie Anderson was born in Petal, Mississippi, on June 1, 1936,

and she grew up with the companionship of six siblings, Mary,

Edwina, Peggy, Charles, Willie, and Kay; and

WHEREAS, Blessed with a devoted family, she shared a

rewarding marriage with her husband, Joe Mixon, that spanned

nearly seven decades, and she took great pride in their five

children, Kenneth, Cynthia, Patricia, Michael, and Theresa;

over the years, she had the pleasure of seeing her family grow

to include 7 grandchildren, Justin, Jon, Zach, Elizabeth,

Emily, Andrew, and Benjamin, 3 great-grandchildren, Taylor,

Danae, and Sutton, 5 great-great-grandchildren, and 10

great- great-great-grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Mixon supported her husband in his career

with the U.S. Air Force for 32 years, and after his retirement

in 1984, she attended management school for the Army and Air

Force Exchange Service; she was subsequently offered a

position at an army base in Texas; during her leisure hours,

she enjoyed listening to gospel music and working on crochet

projects for her loved ones and others in the community; and

WHEREAS, Although Annie Mixon is greatly missed, this

beloved woman has left her family and friends with many

cherished memories, and she will forever hold a special place

in their hearts; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th

Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Annie Laura Mixon

and extend sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her

husband, Joe Mixon; to her children, Kenneth Mixon, Cynthia Brown

and her husband, Will, Patricia Devereaux and her husband, Todd,

Michael Mixon, and Theresa Hilton and her husband, Stacy; to her

grandchildren, Justin Brown, Jon Brown and his wife, Erin, Zach

Mixon, Elizabeth Dinnan and her husband, Ashton, Emily Hilton,

Andrew Hilton, and Benjamin Hilton; to her great-grandchildren,

Taylor Huff and her husband, Sean, Danae Wilson and her husband,

Donnie, and Sutton Dinnan; to her five great-great-grandchildren;

to her 10 great-great-great-grandchildren; to her sister, Kay

Fairley and her husband, James; and to her other relatives and many

friends; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be

prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns

this day, it do so in memory of Annie Laura Mixon.
