SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 665

In Memory

of

Frances Lemons

WHEREAS, All who shared in the life of Frances Joyce Lemons

of Quitman were deeply saddened by her death on May 10, 2025, at

the age of 77; and

WHEREAS, The daughter of Cullen Chester Wheeler and Coye

Dunham Wheeler, the former Frances Wheeler was born on June 11,

1947, in Houston; she grew up with the companionship of six

siblings and spent much of her early life in Cartwright; a member

of the Quitman High School Class of 1965, she had a fulfilling

career in health care, working for many years at the Quitman

Nursing Home as a certified nursing assistant; she later earned a

medication aide license and provided in-home care, including for

family members; she retired in 2012, following more than four

decades of dedicated service; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Lemons was the proud mother of a daughter,

Rhonda; she loved spending time with her family and attending the

extracurricular events of her four grandchildren and eight

great-grandchildren; in her free time, she enjoyed watching

Western movies, game shows, and baseball and assembling jigsaw

puzzles; and

WHEREAS, Admired for her warmth, compassion, and

generosity, Frances Lemons brightened the world for all who knew

her, and they will forever hold her close in their hearts; now,

therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th

Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Frances Joyce

Lemons and extend sincere condolences to the members of her

family: to her daughter, Rhonda Renee Lemons Browning; to her

grandchildren, Miranda Browning, Sara Browning-Miller, Noah

Browning, and Allison Browning; to her great-grandchildren,

Ethan, Olivia, Copeland, Aurora, Ariel, Harley, Walker, and

Krew; to her siblings, James, Cora, Katherine, and Janice; and to

all others who mourn her passing; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be

prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns

this day, it do so in memory of Frances Lemons.
