SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 677

In Memory

of

Isabel McClaugherty

WHEREAS, Cherished memories of a life filled with joyful

times remain to comfort the family and friends of Isabel

"Chavela" McClaugherty, who was called to be with her Lord and

Savior on her 81st birthday surrounded by her loving family on

July 21, 2024; and

WHEREAS, The daughter of Jose Leopoldo Dominguez, Sr., and

Maria Jesusa Davila, Isabel "Chavela" Dominguez was born on July 21,

1943, and grew up in Hargill, Texas, with her siblings Maria Aurora

Davila, Eva Arredondo, Jose Leopoldo Dominguez, Jr., Leonel

Dominguez, Sr., Amparo Perez, and Ramiro Cortez; and

WHEREAS, A woman of profound faith, Isabel "Chavela"

McClaugherty was a founding member of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini

Catholic Church and dedicated her life to her family, community, and

church; she took great pleasure in raising her family, gardening,

cooking, and dancing, and she treasured time spent hosting family

gatherings, Easter egg hunts, and other holiday celebrations; and

WHEREAS, Isabel "Chavela" McClaugherty shared 57 years of

marriage with the love of her life, Ray Dell McClaugherty; they were

blessed with raising three treasured children, Robert, Della, and

Lee Ray, and through the years they were further blessed with eight

grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, celebrating each of

their milestones with great joy and love; and

WHEREAS, Isabel "Chavela" McClaugherty is deeply missed by

friends and family; the passage of time will never diminish the joy

and love she brought into each of their lives; her beautiful spirit

will forever live in their hearts; now, therefore be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th

Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Isabel "Chavela"

McClaugherty and extend sincere condolences to the members of her

family: to her husband, Ray Dell McClaugherty; to her son, Robert

De Leon and his wife, Gloria; to her daughter, Della Ray

McClaugherty Bryant and her husband, Weath; to her son, Lee Ray

McClaugherty and his wife, Jenny; to her eight grandchildren,

Dalinda Moran and her husband, Elias, Robby De Leon, Taryn

Whitney and her husband, Sean, Worsham Bryant and his wife,

Kaylee, Roel De Leon, Tyler McClaugherty, Raymond De Leon, and

Brianna McClaugherty; to her three great-grandchildren, Matthew

Moran, William Whitney, and Bennett Bryant; and to her many other

relatives and friends; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be

prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns

this day, it do so in memory of Isabel "Chavela" McClaugherty.
